Our services

• Diabetic foot care for people at moderate or high risk of developing problems with their feet due to diabetes including self care advice, podiatric assessment and management of risk factors and complications of diabetes such as foot ulceration.
• Children's gait clinics

New patients

New patients are referred into the services via their GP via the E-referral system.

Existing patients

Existing patients can contact the service directly for help, support and further appointments, they do not need further referral by a health professional if they have been seen by Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust's podiatry service within the past six months.

Services we do not offer

• Personal care defined as toe nail cutting and skin care, including the tasks that would normally be carried out as part of everyday personal hygiene
• Domicillary Visits are available for patients who are housebound, require podiatric treatment or assessment and are unable to access our clinics via public & patient transport, local car services or private assisted means of travel.

• Walking aids, if applicable

Where are we?

There are a number of clinical sites covering Shrewsbury, North and South Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.

All podiatry clinic locations are based at GP surgeries, community hospitals or community health centres and are accessible by private transport, voluntary car services such as Dial-a-ride and taxi. Some locations may also be accessible by public transport.

Who are we?

A community-based service that provides patients who are registered with a GP in Shropshire or Telford and Wrekin with effective and timely advice, assessments and diagnosis for podiatric treatment, we also provide diabetes foot screening for people who have found to be at moderate or high risk of diabetic foot complications.

The podiatry and foot health service sees people of all ages. Children can be seen in routine podiatry clinics and can also be seen in specialist children’s gait clinics if the problem is musculoskeletal related.

• High Risk clinics - Specialist Community Podiatrist or Podiatry Assistant Practitioner.
• Nail Surgery clinics – Specialist Community Podiatrist with Podiatry Support Worker
• Children’s Gait clinic – Specialist Podiatrist with specialist skills in assessing and treating children
• Moderate risk Diabetic foot screening – Podiatry Assistant or community podiatrist
• Ulcer clinics - Specialist Community Podiatrist
