Statement from The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust in response to the publication of The Independent Maternity Review of Maternity Services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, led by Donna Ockenden

Jo Williams, Chief Executive for the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: “Our thoughts are with all the families whose experiences are at the heart of this review. We know this report will also bring back painful memories for the families we let down and we are truly sorry for this. We will reflect carefully on the report, ensuring that its findings and the voices within it guide us in the care we provide.

Stay safe in this hot weather

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, and avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine


Keep Cool: Seek out air-conditioned spaces, use fans, and take cool showers


Stay in the shade: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially between 11am and 3pm


Protect Yourself: Wear light, loose-fitting clothing, sunscreen, and a hat when outdoors


Check on Others: Ensure vulnerable individuals, like older adults, young children, and those with health conditions, are staying safe


Be Prepared: Familiarize yourself with local heat-health alerts and take necessary precautions


NHS England advises using 111 online or by phone for non-emergency health concerns during the heatwave.
