Children's Constipation Service
This section aims to provide General Practitioners (GPs) and members of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) with some more detailed information about our services. The information below is updated regularly, but, if you need to find out more detailed information about a specific service or have a very specific question about the service or referral pathway, then please contact the service manager or the key clinician detailed opposite.
- How does a GP refer in to this service?
GPs need to fill in the referral form in the Downloads and useful links section on this page. These forms can be faxed to 01743 450801, emailed to CNN.Admin@nhs.net or sent by post to Coral House, 11 Longbow Close, Harlescott Lane, Shrewsbury, SY1 3G2.

Types of patients regularly seen
Children aged 6 months to 18 years, with a diagnosis of idiopathic constipation who have been treated and monitored for a period of 6 months or more with little or no improvement.
We currently only have a service commissioned by Telford and Wrekin CCG therefore can only accept referrals for patients with a Telford & Wrekin GP.
Patients not seen by this service
- Newborns, infants and children who have constipation with a known cause.
- Children who have a primary diagnosis of soiling with no constipation would require a referral to the School Nurses/Health Visitors.
