Information Governance (IG) is the way in which the NHS handles all information and in particular the personal and sensitive information of patients and staff.
Following strict IG guidelines enables the Trust to ensure that personal information is dealt with legally, securely, efficiently and effectively, in order to deliver the best possible care to our patients.
Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust takes Information Governance very seriously, and has help and guidance available to both patients and staff on a range of subjects, including areas such as:
- Managing your records
- Data Protection
- NHS Number
- Freedom of Information
- Using data for research purposes
All staff, including temporary contract staff and volunteers, need to be aware of their responsibilities with regards to IG so Shropshire Community NHS Trust has produced an Information Governance Handbook.
