Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (ShropCom) is proud to share that Julie Harris, Head of Safeguarding and Named Nurse, has received the Queen’s Nursing Award.
The Queen’s Nursing Award is a respected prestigious national honour which recognises nurses who show high standards of care, strong leadership and a clear commitment to keeping people safe.
Julie’s award reflects her dedication to safeguarding and her work to protect vulnerable people across the communities served by the Trust.
Julie Harris said: “It’s a real privilege to be recognised nationally and I am beyond proud to call myself a Queen’s Nurse. This award isn’t just mine; it also belongs to the incredible team I’m part of that is committed to delivering exceptional care.”
Having started her career as a student nurse in March 1979, Julie has worked with both adults and children, in both acute and community settings. She is well known for being calm, fair and supportive.
She listens carefully and works closely with staff across services to improve safeguarding practice. Her leadership helps create a culture where people feel confident to speak up and work together to deliver safe, high-quality care.
Clair Hobbs, Director of Nursing, said:
“Julie is an excellent leader who puts safeguarding at the heart of everything she does. She leads with integrity, kindness and professionalism, and her work has a positive impact across the Trust. This award is well deserved and recognises the difference Julie makes every day for patients, families and colleagues.”
The Queen’s Nursing Award is a fitting recognition of Julie’s commitment to safeguarding and nursing excellence.
