Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (ShropCom) welcomed Simon Noel, Deputy Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) at NHS England and Sue Clarke Clinical Lead, Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) Team for a dedicated visit to explore how digital transformation is supporting safer and more efficient care, resulting in better outcomes for patients.
During the visit Simon and Sue spent the day meeting clinical and digital teams to see first‑hand how ShropCom is embedding digital tools and technology into everyday practice.
Mark Goodfellow, Digital Clinical Lead at ShropCom said:
“It was a real privilege to welcome Simon and Sue to ShropCom and showcase the digital work taking place within the Trust, but also across the wider system. The digital enhancements are making it easier for teams to provide the best possible care to patients across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Dudley.”
During the visit, Simon and Sue joined teams for a walkthrough of the Virtual Ward (VW), Urgent Community Response (UCR), Safeguarding and Single Point of Referral (SPR) services. All of the services utilise real time digital information to support rapid clinical decision‑making, remote monitoring and faster access to support for patients at home, resulting in more patients being able to be kept at home and still receive the care they need.
Simon Noel said:
“It has been fantastic to see how ShropCom teams are embracing digital innovation to enhance the care they provide. The work happening here demonstrates the power of combining clinical expertise with modern digital tools; enabling improved outcomes for patients and a more rewarding staff working experience.”
Clair Hobbs, Director of Nursing and Infection Prevention and Control at ShropCom said:
“Digital transformation is a vital part of how we strengthen community care. Our teams are committed to using technology in a way that is meaningful, practical, and centered around patient needs. We were delighted to welcome both Simon and Sue and showcase the progress being made across our services.”
