Every Christmas the Health Visitors in the Dudley Central Health Visiting team do a ‘reverse advent calendar’ throughout November and December and collect or buy items to donate to a local charity to help give back to their local community.

This year the charity of choice is the Kids Clothes Project founded by a group of mums passionate about supporting families in need. They work closely with the public and local organisations to supply good quality children’s clothes between the ages of 2 to 12 years to families across the Midlands.

Amy Polito- Hickman, Health Visitor at the Dudley Central Health Visiting Team, says:

“We understand the challenges faced by many families, especially this time of year, and wanted to do all we could to support local families in need during what can be a financially and emotionally demanding time.”

Amy continues:

“We refer families into the charity every week through our referral process. They are amazing and always ensure they provide families in need with good quality clothes and toys within days of us referring into them.”

The charity’s mission is to use spare and unused clothing and toys to make a real difference to families across the Midlands.

Kate Ashby, Project Manager at the Kids Clothes Project, says:

"We are so grateful to the Health Visiting team for their incredible support. Donations like these make a huge difference to local families. It’s heartwarming to see the community come together to help provide children with what they need to thrive, not just at Christmas but throughout the year."

To date the team have collected an incredible haul of clothing and toys which have been lovingly donated to the project, ready to be distributed to families who need them mo
