The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) programme is celebrating a decade of supporting hundreds of young parents and their children across the county. FNP have marked the milestone by bringing together FNP colleagues, parents (past and present) and partnership agencies for a special event to celebrate.
The service was launched in Shropshire in 2014 and is an evidence-based, intensive home visiting programme for first time parents aged 19 and under. The programme is delivered by specially trained nurses, health visitors and midwives who provide support from early pregnancy up to a child’s second birthday.
Jo Bettison, Family Nurse Partnership Supervisor says:
“It is a momentous occasion for FNP as we have worked extremely hard over the last decade to ensure babies of young teenage parents have the best start in life they possibly can. It has been wonderful to come together with colleagues and the families we have supported and celebrate our success together.”
Over the last ten years the service has developed strong relationships with hundreds of local families by working with them to help achieve their goals and aspirations for both themselves and their children.
Jo Bettison, Family Nurse Partnership Supervisor, continues:
“As a service we recognise the importance of early intervention and the impact this has on the trajectory of a young child’s life and supporting the young mother to be the best parent she can be. I am so proud of everyone who works within the service and all the families that we have supported.”
