The county’s Community Health Trust is looking to appoint three individuals with senior experience to serve as Non-Executive Directors for the organisation.

The successful candidates will join Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust’s Board, helping to steer the organisation’s strategic direction.

Of the three appointees, one will be from a clinical/practice background in the NHS or health and care, one will have a background in quality and governance, and the third will come from a finance background.

Non-Executive Directors play a crucial role in providing scrutiny and challenge to the Executive Directors, who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation.

The Trust provides a wide range of community health services to residents in Shropshire and Telford, together with children’s services in Dudley.

Mike Ridley, Chairman of the Trust, said: “This is an exciting time for community health services, with the national and local focus turning to new models of care and an opportunity for community services to shape the future of healthcare in our system.

“Being a Non-Executive director is an exceptional opportunity to help shape that change.

“The reason we come to work every day is to keep people well, out of crisis, independent and living the lives they want to live in their local communities.

“The successful candidates will be strong team players with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a real affinity with community and community services, and have the ability to be part of the Trust Board and committees, bringing challenge and support.”

The successful candidate will be expected to commit to two to three days per month to the role, to include attendance at the monthly Board meetings. They will be paid £6,157 per annum.

These roles are for a minimum term of 12 months with scope for a longer-term position, subject to discussions with local health partners about future service models.

For more information about the role, including details of how to submit an application, please visit the NHS Improvement website, the organisation responsible for overseeing NHS Trusts and this recruitment process, here: https://improvement.nhs.uk/news-alerts/non-executive-directors-x-3-shropshire-community-health-nhs-trust/.

Applications must be submitted by Thursday 13 September.
