Local NHS Staff team up to celebrate International Nurses Day 2024

To mark International Nurses Day 2024, staff from Shropshire Community Health Trust (ShropCom) will be putting on their trainers and running as ‘Team ShropCom’ at the well-known Shrewsbury Park Run.

New Rehabilitation and Recovery Units help reduce health and care pressures across the county

Two Rehabilitation and Recovery Units have opened at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, adding additional bed capacity on each hospital site (Princess Royal Hospital, Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital) for people who no longer need to be in an acute hospital bed but can’t be supported safely at home. The care at the units will be delivered by Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust.

Update to clarify board meeting arrangements to discuss and make a decision on the inpatient beds contract at Bishop’s Castle

We know the decision on whether we can sustain ShropCom’s delivery of the inpatient bed unit contract at Bishop’s Castle is of great interest to local people. The reason it is under discussion is because over the past 18 months we have not been able to recruit enough registered nurses to work at the unit to safely staff it. To be clear, it is just the inpatient beds contract that is under discussion, not the broader services we provide at Bishop’s Castle.
